Update: Contacted by Razer June 13, 2008

It appears that a link to this site and my video reached someone at Razer, the Director of Customer Relations, a decent guy by the name of Glen. Glen was quite helpful, including offering some suggestions on alternate, non-firearm related ways to kill the Lycosa. He also brought to my attention the fact that Razer announced, not long after my initial RMA request, a recall on a whole series of keyboard serial numbers that coincidentally happened to include mine. If you have a Razer keyboard with the non-repeating key issue like mine popped up with a few weeks before the shift key died entirely, this is probably something you want to go back to Razer support and look into.
Glen also explained more of why they’re so careful with receipts, due to unauthorized resellers and counterfeit product. I can understand some concern about counterfeits, though the unauthorized reseller concerns do seem to be a bit of a cop out. He also highlighted that you can go to the retailer in many cases, and ask for a reprint of the receipt from your purchase. Unfortunately in my case, CompUSA folded up shop a while ago and is no longer available to help.
All in all, I feel a lot better about Razer support. I do wish they hadn’t appeared to farm out all their front-line tech support to someone in India working off a script, or possibly notified me on the recall based on the serial number I entered in during my first RMA, but I get a better feeling that they’re paying attention to the community if you get enough visibility. It’s be nice not to HAVE to, but.
So, the long and short of it is this. It looks like Razer’s going to be able to help me after all, and I really appreciate that. However I made a promise to kill a keyboard (and I can’t use it with a busted shift key anyhow) so I’m going to be following through. Keep up the votes, and they’ll be totalled up on June 30th to determine the winner.
Also of note, the guys at the ClubSI forums have been taking part in this process using the forum thread linked here (pops up a new window) where they’ve been voting as well. It appears the SKS has a bit of a lead there, so it might be right down to the wire on June 30th!
Again, thanks to Glen and Razer for taking notice of this, and I’ll be giving more information as part of the video to come soon.
I want you to tell me how to kill… June 5, 2008

… My six-month old Razer Lycosa keyboard.
It started its life as a good, functional keyboard with an impressive list of features and design decisions. It is going to end its life in a pile of parts ground into the dirt in a landfill in northern Nevada. Why, you ask? Because the company that manufactured it, Razer, has failed me for the last time.
I’m no Darth Vader, or Emperor Palpatine, but what I am is a consumer that’s simply decided he’s had enough. And as this keyboard has no neck to choke, and would only react to electrocution in a less than properly impressive fashion short of a Tesla coil, I have determined that the price for failing me is going to involve bullets. Perhaps only one. Perhaps several.
The exact means of this keyboard’s demise, I am leaving up to you, the reader. Please watch the video above to see more of my motivation, and check the pages on this site for the FAQ about Kill My Razer Lycosa, as well as the pages for the guns I may use and the keyboard itself. Then, when you have decided what you’d like to see, tell me. And on a date to be announced shortly, I will fulfill the wishes of the crowd. I will upload a video of the execution to my site as well as YouTube, as soon as the deed is done. The tentative date for the destruction of this keyboard is June 30th, with video up for the 4th of July holiday weekend.
A keyboard will die in the desert. Alone, all but for the echoes of gunfire and the sound of my laughter.
